Crochet some Baby Booties in 15 minutes August 20, 2016 11:30 3 Comments
I have dabbled in crochet on and off over my life so this really intrigued me when I saw it on Pinterest. 15 mins to crochet some booties! Could it be true. I watched her tutorial video and she makes it look very easy. If you are an avid crocheter then its a very easy pattern to follow. I think I could even do it (it might take me longer than 15 minutes though)
Check out the full pattern and tutorial over on Croby Patterns blog. Or if you would like another pattern for booties this one looks really cute over on Whistle and Ivy.
I think these wooden buttons would be a great addition to your 15 minute booties.
Happy making and remember to email me with photos so I can check out your lovely creations.

Enjoying Life! July 4, 2016 00:00
The year is over half way over and I don't know about you but it has started off SO busy. As I sit here thinking today, it is easy to be overwhelmed by stuff. But you know, life is there to be enjoyed. So today take a moment to enjoy your life. Look around you at the things that are good and think about them and be thankful. It doesn't take long but it really does change your mood.
Then find something that makes you happy and do it.
The key to enjoying life is to choose to enjoy it. It's your choice.
It's a matter of choice! June 21, 2016 18:13
Life is full of choices. I choose to make a difference.
No time like the present! June 14, 2016 21:16
Don't forget to have Fun! November 27, 2015 00:19
This time of year is a very busy time. I spend my days filling order, making stuff, running errands, picking kids up and taking them to a million places, making sure everyone has everything they need, organising end of year breakups and a billion other things.
Sometimes I am can definitely become way too serious. Most of the time I don't consider myself a serious person. I love having fun. But when I get busy it's just put your head down and work.
But if I keep doing that all the time then life gets really boring and I forget why I'm doing the things I'm doing, and I don't want that.
So its time to have fun. Summer is almost here and summer means fun.
This afternoon I took my daughter out to the shops and we just had fun. We laughed at each other and sang at the top of our voices to a song on the radio. Sure I was still busy and I did have a thousands of things I could be doing, but life is short and you need to make the most of it when you can. Have fun! Enjoy the little things. Stop and smell the roses, as they say.
As this quote above says 'Never, ever underestimate the importance of having fun'
Enjoy the moment!
Have you discovered Periscope? October 8, 2015 22:33
Periscope!
As of two weeks ago I had never heard of this new social media app. But now I'm wondering how I ever lived without it :) Well not quite. But it is awesome.
If you are wondering what Periscope is all about it is basically a way to live stream video to your followers. I first heard about the app on a podcast I was listening to by Jess Van Den from Create and Thrive. If you have never listened to her podcasts they are amazing and you need to get over there now. Her website too is full of great stuff for creative people and people who run their own handmade business.
Anyway after hearing about it I jumped on and joined and started to have a look around. I soon discovered some great people talking about lots of stuff that I was really interested in. Because you can also interact with the person doing the video I have been able to ask questions and comment to people that I would never dream of being able to speak to in person.
I am yet to do my first scope (that's Periscope speak for your first broadcast, see I'm an expert now, haha). But I plan to do it very soon. It is a little scary and every time I get ready to do it, something comes up and I run out of time. But I need to just do it, right!
Another great Podcast to listen to if you are looking at getting into Periscope is The Inside Scope with Ryan Bilello. He chats to a whole heap of periscopers and gets into the ins and outs of scoping. Have a listen.
Also Jess (Create and Thrive) has put together a great blog post with some awesome resource for getting started on Periscope.
If you are on Periscope or jump on there soon then you can follow me @heartsupplies (just like my twitter). I would also like to follow you so let me know where you are so I can find you and watch all your exciting scopes. Leave a comment at the bottom or twitter me and I'll jump on and give you some love.
Here's a few of my favourite scopers if you want to check them out.
@Caitlinbacher
@Merriweatherc
@ryan_bilello
@PatFlynn
@JessVanDen
@BeckyHigginsLLC

@SweetDanni
@ChocolateJohnny

See you in a Periscope room soon.

Why Escaping from Reality is Good for the Soul July 7, 2015 10:45
Well maybe not escaping forever but a week or so is good!
Last week we went on a small family holiday to the beach. We had nothing planned just relaxing. Sounds wonderful, right? Right!
But in this day and age it is very difficult to get away from everything. Things follow you. You have your phone with you 24/7. You never know when you might have to snap a photo to show the world on instagram how much fun you are having. You need to see what is happening in the world so you don't miss something. Then there's the emails. They are always there and I'll just quickly have a look and see who wants me.
All these things are very hard to escape without actually actively choosing to escape them.
I decided that these holidays I was going to get away. I went to the library and borrowed some books. Yes actual books with paper pages. I know that is so last century! I went to the local craft shop and got some wool and some knitting needles. I love making a new project when I go away, its about the only time I create something for me.
So I am not saying that I didn't pick up my phone or check my emails because that would be a lie. I did post a couple of photos on instagram but for the majority of the time I switched off. Switched off from the information overload that is our lives these days and lost myself in some far off land in some make believe time and read my books. I knitted my blanket and turned off my brain to all the goings on around me.
We had a fantastic time. I feel relaxed and rejuvenated. I must say I do feel like another week would have been good but you take what you can get and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
So an escape from reality is good for the soul and for the body and for the mind.
And now its back to reality and life as we know it. But I am more refreshed and ready to go.
Enjoy your week!

My Eclectic Life June 2, 2015 12:06
So the website has be simmering along for a few weeks now and I have been thinking a lot lately about what I want it to look like. Do I want a blog, do I want people to know me or just the business? If I do want a blog what does that look like? Is it just this special or that deal for a product? I have spent lots of time listening to podcasts and heard lots of people say you need a blog, you need social media etc. And yes that is all true but I'm thinking how does that work for me?
So I take this opportunity to introduce myself. My life is made up of lots of very different and varing areas. None of which I want to give up. So I have decide that yes I want a blog but I don't want it just to be about my craft products, I want it to be more than that. Being part of the handmade community has made me see that. Making things is more than just putting them together, its about your life. Each thing you make has part of yourself in it. That is why I love selling craft supplies. It gives people an opportunity to express themselves, to show the world a little of themselves and let others enjoy that.
So let me talk about myself a little :)
I called this post 'My Eclectic Life' and the reason is the definition of eclectic is 'deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources'. And that is me. Diverse and broad.
Let me clarify that.
My life consists of the following things that I 'do':
I run this craft supply business - Heart Supplies
I make things and sell at markets and have an Etsy store - Designs of the Heart (https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/designsoftheheart)
I work as a Weight Watchers Coach
I am the wife of a Pastor and we run a church that has two campus', in two different cities
I am a mother of a teenage daughter (full time job right there)
I have a passion for helping those who cant help themselves and part of our ministry as a chuch is helping to stop human trafficking in South East Asia
I could go on but that about covers it. I think about the things that I am passionate about and they are many and varied. I love handmade, love helping people make themselves healthier, love giving and talking, love life and family.
So there you go Eclectic. So this blog is going to be that. Eclectic. A bit of this and a bit of that. Sure there will be specials and new products that come in and I do tend to get very excited about that. But there will also be everyday things, things of life that come and go and if you dont stop to enjoy them then you miss out. Life is for the living.
Like I said before I am passionate about helping people that cant help themselves so that is why part proceeds from the sale of these craft supplies and also my handmade things go to helping those women, kids, people that find themselves being sold by another human into a life that no one should ever have to endure. So the more I sell the more I can help and that drives me to be the best I can be.
So join me on the ride and lets make life happen together.
Until next time
Sarah
P.S. Just so you know, I have never been good at spelling and grammar so if you see a spelling mistake, or something that just doesn't make sense, just read on. You get the gist. Thanks in advance :)
Welcome to Heart Supplies January 31, 2015 16:45
Hi and welcome,
Welcome to my new website. It has been a long time in coming, mostly because I am a very good procrastinator :) But it is finally here and I am very excited.
I have been selling craft supplies since July 2009 through my etsy store Heart Supplies -
https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/heartsupplies but I have wanted my own website for a while now.
I just love handmade and have been making things for as long as I can remember. Heart supplies was born because I had so many craft supplies piling up and not enough time to do all the projects I wanted. I started selling a few of my wooden buttons and before I knew it more people wanted things and Heart Supplies was off and running.
I just love the natural look and feel of wood and natural materials so you will find a lot of that here.
Please look around and see what you fancy, contact me if you need any help or even to just say hello.
Sarah
